Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 renders leaked: Here's a first look at upcoming foldable phones

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 is causing a lot of buzz in the folding device market. Recently, OnLeaks and SmartPrix released a series of CAD-based renderings that give us the first glimpse of what the device will look like. Renders suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 may not have undergone major design changes, but there are still some notable improvements.

The design of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has been revealed in leaked renders:

The back of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a raised camera hump for the three camera sensors. The LED flash is placed on the side instead of the bottom for a cleaner design. The edges of the frame are slightly curved to give the device a sleek look. The phones have roughly the same aspect ratio, with a tall outer display leading to a roughly square inner display that's slightly taller than it's wide.

The main improvement is the reduced thickness of the device when closed. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 measures 154.9 x 67.1 x 13.5mm when closed, making it significantly thinner than its predecessor thanks to a new 'teardrop' design hinge. This new hinge design eliminates gaps when closing the device, potentially providing users with a smoother and more seamless experience.

When the device is opened, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 measures 154.9 x 129.9 x 6.3mm, which is slightly smaller in all dimensions except thickness, which is the same as the Fold 4.

Despite no major design changes, the new 'teardrop' hinge is a notable addition, allowing for a more compact and thinner device, perhaps the infamous that ultimately plagued previous models. Provides a solution to wrinkle problems.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 specs leaked:

A recent leak claims that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will feature a 7.6-inch AMOLED primary display and a 6.2-inch AMOLED outer screen, both with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is brighter than the previous generation. It features an under-display selfie camera, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, and a triple camera setup with 50MP, 12MP and 10MP sensors. Other improvements include Gorilla Glass Victus 2, IPX8 water resistance, S Pen support, improved speakers and Android 13 OS with One UI 5.1.1.

A recent report suggests that Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 in August, but those devices could launch earlier than expected. The market for foldable devices is constantly evolving, and Samsung's new release will undoubtedly be an exciting addition.
