Microsoft Edge gets new interface, AI capabilities, Workspaces and more

Along with all the AI-powered features for Windows 11, the Microsoft Store, and other services, Microsoft  announced new changes and updates to the Edge browser at its annual Microsoft Build  conference.



The company  announced a number of new features and changes to Edge, including a redesigned user interface, AI capabilities, workspaces, and more.

Microsoft Edge gets new user interface:

Microsoft Edge has received a new design update based on user feedback. The latest updates make web browsers look better and easier to use than ever before. This update includes a browser  with a Windows 11 design interface with rounded corners, translucent backgrounds, smooth animations, and subtle usability changes. 


 The updated interface has moved profile icons to  new locations for ease of use, making it easier for users to add, edit, and manage accounts. It also brings structural changes, including a new container system that allows users to view multiple items simultaneously.

An updated interface will be available to users in the coming weeks.

Microsoft 365 Copilot comes to Edgeas

Microsoft is extending Edge's AI capabilities beyond  Bing integration. This update brings AI improvements to data security and privacy across the enterprise. At their annual meeting, the company announced the integration of Microsoft Edge with Microsoft 365 Copilot. Microsoft 365 Copilot provides a new experience that combines the power of a large language model, Microsoft 365 Apps, and  data from the Microsoft Graph, such as  calendar, email, chat, documents, and more. 

  As  part of that, the company has also added plugin support to Microsoft 365 Copilot. Developers can create interfaces that allow people to interact with their apps using human language to query Microsoft 365 Copilot and Bing Chat for responses and actions from connected services. We've also added plugin support to Microsoft 365 Copilot to detect and activate new plugins through Edge's simple UI. The ability for people to interact with  apps using human language to query responses and actions from services connected to Microsoft 365 Copilot and Bing Chat. 
 
  Microsoft Search can also display contextual files and SharePoint sites in the address bar based on your recent activity. Edge's Find on Page feature has been enhanced with SmartFind, which corrects syntactic and semantic errors to provide accurate information about page content. 
 Text predictions are also coming to Edge and are now rolling out in English in the US, India and Australia. The company  also confirmed that it will be available  in Chinese and Japanese soon.

Microsoft Edge for business:

Microsoft has also added dedicated workspaces for business users. It provides rich enterprise management features, security features, and productivity-enhancing features. Users can also store personal and personal data such as browsing history, passwords, etc. 
 Microsoft Edge for Business is available in preview  on managed devices today. Microsoft Edge for Business will also come to unmanaged devices in the coming months.

Microsoft Edge Workspaces rolling out to everyone:

In addition to Edge for Business, Microsoft has also rolled out Workspaces in the browser. A collaboration mode designed for browsers. This allows multiple users to work together on the same tabs, data, files, etc. from different locations through a common set of browser tabs. 
This feature is  rolling out to all users now and will roll out gradually over the next few months.
