WhatsApp to soon support screen sharing on Android devices
WhatsApp screen sharing is likely to work if both parties have the latest version of the app.
Meta continues to add new features to its instant messaging platform – WhatsApp. As reported by WABetaInfo, the company is currently beta testing a new feature on Android devices that allows users to share screens, similar to what can be done on video conferencing platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
To share the screen on WhatsApp, users have to start a call and then select the screen share option located in the bottom left corner. This feature allows users to completely mirror their smartphone display. When enabled, the app displays a disclaimer stating that WhatsApp will have access to all details such as passwords, messages, phone numbers and other personal information while sharing the screen.
For security reasons, WhatsApp screen sharing is likely to work if both parties have the latest version of the app. Currently, this feature is still in the beta stage and is expected to be available in the stable version of WhatsApp in the next few weeks.
As part of making WhatsApp a feature-packed instant messaging platform and to stay relevant, Meta is rolling out new features almost every week. The social media conglomerate has recently added features such as private chats with the ability to lock and secure individual chats. Likewise, it also introduced an option where users can edit messages within 15 minutes, providing more freedom to message users by allowing them to edit sent messages.
